SARASOTA (WSNN) – The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a medical emergency involving a 3-month-old boy.

It happened just after 3 PM, Thursday at a daycare called “Beautiful Blessing” near the intersection of 10th Street and Orange Avenue.

We don’t know if he has any injuries or not, but SPD says since’s a medical emergency involving an infant, they transported him to the hospital.

Police say it happened inside the daycare, but we don’t know if there was any foul play. SPD is investigating if it was a natural cause or at the hands of somebody else.

“It’s heartbreaking to investigate any sort of medical emergency let alone one involving a child, many officers at the Sarasota Police Department are parents themselves so their heart just stops when their next call for service involves a child,” said Sarasota Police Department PIO, Genevieve Judge.

Police say have the family is aware of the incident.

Detectives were on the scene talking to witnesses and collecting evidence.

The District 12 Medical Examiner also arrived on the scene to investigate.

SPD says we don’t expect to have any new information at this time.

But stay with SNN for those updates when we get them.
