DAYTONA (SNN-TV) – History was made Sunday at the Daytona 500.
The longest Daytona 500 race ever helped kick off the NASCAR season. The race went into double overtime, where a record 212 laps and an incredible 530 miles were raced.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. crossed the finish line first. Stenhouse Jr’s victory is the third of his career and first since July of 2017. His 199 race winless streak was the fourth longest stretch between wins in Cup Series history.
Reigning Cup champion Joey Logano finished second, Christopher Bell was third, followed by Chris Buescher and pole sitter Alex Bowman to round out the Top-5. Alva-native Ross Chastain finished 9th, and Tampa-native Aric Almirola finished 21st.
