SARASOTA (SNN TV) – Andrew Feduccia of Riverview High wins the Courage Award at the Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte High School Sports Awards.
The Wednesday night show was produced with support from Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota Ford. Andrew was born with down syndrome.
The Herald-Tribune reports that Feduccia expressed a desire to help out the Riverview High football team back in 2018 at 15-years-old. His mother Karen approached Ram head coach Josh Smithers, who supported the idea. Andrew became the team’s student athletic trainer.
He puts ice in the coolers, loads coolers onto a cart, and makes sure player water bottles are full. Andrew’s now 20 and wants to help helping the Rams as long as he can. His mother says it’s one of his greatest joys, and he’s “learned the value of being part of a team.”
