SUNCOAST (SNN TV) – The Old Farmer’s Almanac says while many countries celebrate this holiday at other times of the year, we celebrate it the third Sunday of June annually.

History.com says the first U.S. Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19th, 1910 in Washington State. A woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to establish an equivalent holiday to Mother’s Day, which began in 1914 under President Woodrow Wilson. But it wasn’t until 1972 that Father’s Day became a nationwide holiday.

Here, we share pictures of the fathers of the SNN faces you see every weekend, and the ones you don’t behind the scenes.

I celebrate two dads, both my own, and my brother, who’s a father of three.

We also want to say “We see you” to those of you who are reminded of your father who’s not here around this time each year. And whether the father you remember lovingly is biological or not, he helped make you the person you are and he’s worth celebrating, here or not. So here’s to all the fathers who are with us, who have left us, and the ones to whom you’re currently in a relationship and are just so proud of.

From all of us at SNN, we wish you a Happy Father’s Day.
