FL – The Florida Department of Health confirmed Sunday night two presumptively positive cases of Coronavirus in the state.

Governor Ron DeSantis has issued an executive order directing a Public Health Emergency and statewide response protocol for the Coronavirus Sunday night. The announcement comes just after the Florida Department of Health confirms two patients presumptively testing positive for the virus.

Florida DOH reports one patient from Manatee County has no history of traveling to any of the countries with restrictive travel bans by the Center for Disease & Control. That individual did seek medical help and is currently isolated. Public Health officials are also monitoring anyone who may have come in contact with the patient.

The second individual is from Hillsborough County and is being isolated as well, however that patient did travel to Italy. Both patients will remain isolated until they cleared by public health officials.

SNN was made aware of a letter circulating online early Sunday afternoon that was given to patients of Doctors Hospital in Sarasota reporting one case at that hospital. Senator Joe Gruters confirmed the validity of the letter to the Herald-Tribune stating he spoke to someone at HCA Healthcare, which owns Doctors Hospital they say the letter is real suggesting a patient is there, however the CDC has yet to confirm the patient’s status.

Governor Ron DeSantis alongside the state surgeon general will hold a press conference in Miami and in Tampa to discuss the states plan of attack against the virus.

SNN will bring you live coverage of Governor DeSantis as he makes his announcement from Tampa at 10:30 a.m. from the Florida Department of Health Tampa Branch Laboratory.
