SARASOTA – The search continues for a boater that went missing from South Lido Beach Thursday afternoon.

Dozens of first responders from multiple agencies were on scene after receiving calls of a missing boater. Spokesman for Florida Fish & Wildlife Adam Brown says only one boat was involved in the incident but aren’t able to release much information at this time pending the ongoing investigation.

Beach-goers of camera say this part of South Lido Beach is known to have strong currents and noted the No Swim sign posted near the shoreline.

“Make sure you’re always being safe out in the water, you’re always being respectful of others, being responsible,” said Brown. “You need to make sure that you’ve got your safety equipment and you’re following proper boating safety rules and water regulations.”

At this time Brown says they are still searching for the boater and will be keeping an FWC crew on scene throughout the night.
