SARASOTA – Many small business owners on the Suncoast may have to wait longer to receive their stimulus package that will help them survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Owner of Evie’s Mike Evanoff is one of the lucky few small businesses on the Suncoast that received the Paycheck Protection Program, as part of the $2.2 trillion emergency stimulus package.

Evanoff says he can breathe a sign of relief knowing his employees will be paid, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the clear just yet. He says part of stimulus package requires him to allocate portions of the aid to his employees in the next eight weeks.

“It’s really not the best thing for us right now because we’re closed. You know you take a restaurant or a bar that’s closed, and we have to bring these employees back,” said Evanoff.

Evanoff says he worries staying closed for more than two months will not damage his business but will leave many of his employees without a job to make it July. And if you’re a small business owner that hasn’t received their stimulus package reach out to us on Facebook or at news@snntv.com.
