ANNA MARIA – Although no ribbons were cut during the soft opening this morning, visitors of all ages made their way onto the rebuilt pier all afternoon.
While anglers fished, others took a seat on the benches along the pier to enjoy the view of the bay and the skyway bridge.
Manatee County Resident, Jayne Christenson got the chance to visit the old pier before it was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017, she says the new pier looks fantastic.
“This one is definitely updated with the wood, its cleaner looking, maybe a little wider, more benches and stuff like that. More user friendly, more up to date with the railings and the wood that they used. The building itself is excellent, the bathrooms are fantastic,” said Manatee County Resident, Jayne Christenson.
Although no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the pier, visitors are allowed to bring a cooler.
Pier hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM every Friday through Sunday until further notice.
