SARASOTA (WSNN) – Sarasota High School Sailors and their support system sail into the football season fully decked out in team logos.  Even on their masks.

“Getting back to sports is important for the students, it’s important for the parents, and making sure that we can be on the campus,” Sarasota High’s Football Booster Club president, Kevin Angell said.

And now, the Sarasota High football team can do just that, rocking masks featuring their Sailor mascot. Aquarius Graphics is donating masks and hand sanitizers to the team, coaching staff, tame volunteers and the team’s booster club, says Aquarius owner Eric Pena.  All in the name of getting this football going.

“It’s just a weird environment right now how kids need to wear masks all day at school and the teachers have to do that, I was just inspired by that and tried to help the schools as much as possible,” Pena said.

Besides uniforms, mouth guards and pads, add to that list, masks and hand sanitizer.

“It’s really big deal, all of our parents want to get back to watching our kids play, and since the county has placed these requirements on us, it’s kind of a scatter to make sure that we reach those requirements,” Angell said. “So, it’s awesome that they reached out and made that donation.”

Booster club president, Kevin Angell says the donation helps lift a burden.

“It’s been tough fundraising while COVID has been so prominent and things have been shut down,” Angell said. “We’ve really had to find new sources of income, so it’s been tough. We would have to make those purchases either with our remaining funds or out of our own pocket.”

Sarasota High has 10 football games scheduled,  half at home. The  stands normally hold 7500 people, but Sarasota County Schools is limiting the crowd to  25-percent of capacity.

Not to worry though, SNN Sports Director Jake Young and the entire SNN crew will be out every Friday nights, starting this week, to bring you all of the high school football action across the Suncoast.

Pena says he hopes to be able to donate more PPE to other schools in the future.
