SARASOTA – The City of Sarasota is recognizing Hispanics across the Suncoast.

On Monday, Mayor Hagen Brody and the City Commission proclaimed Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to be National Hispanic Heritage Month in Sarasota

“Our hope is that this raises awareness in the broader community about how important our diversity is in the City of Sarasota and the contributions that the diversity brings to our community, specifically this month were recognizing the Hispanic community,” said Mayor of the City of Sarasota, Hagen Brody.

City commissioners recognized several businesses including, Suarez Architecture, Unidos Now, and Dreamers Academy.

“And all the great things that they bring to our community and the impacts in our business, our culture, and our community,” said Hagen.

The Proclamation highlights civil rights leaders, teachers, artists, and even journalists.

“They just add a lot to our community so this is just an opportunity and a chance for us to celebrate that diversity and make sure that our Hispanic community knows that they are an important part of our community,” said Hagen.
