BRADENTON (SNN-TV) – Despite the Venice Indians being the only Suncoast team still vying for accolades this football season, one local coach received an honor all his own earlier today.
Seminoles Head Coach Brett Timmons has been named the 2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coach of the Year, and his seniors surprised earlier today with the news.
Timmons was the lone Manatee County coach, among the 10 finalists, competing for the award.
Upon winning the award, Timmons is receives a $2,000 grant from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation to help maintain and upgrade the football program as well as being named a nominee for the Don Shula Coach of the Year award.
Timmons was able to be awarded this honor after being named Bucs Coach of the Week in late October after the Seminoles 18-0 win over Fort Meade.
Southeast went 5-3 in 2021, winning its last four games of the regular season.
